Only 16 appearances later, the chord has been cut between Ronaldinho and AC Milan.

The Rossoneri finally released forward Ronaldinho, and he seems destined to head back to Brazil in order to prepare for the 2014 World Cup in his home nation.

No one should look at this as a loss for AC Milan: Ronaldinho, 30, has lost his touch over the past few seasons at San Siro. He wasn't exactly the transfer that Milan hoped he would be. The Ronaldinho that dazzled the world with his foot skills and scoring prowess has been reduced to an over paid forward hardly worth the €18.5 million transfer fee paid to his former club, Barcelona.

AC Milan has been the top dog this season in Serie A and seem to have come back to what they were well known for over many years: domination.

Massimiliano Allegri has taken over a team that finished 3rd last season and led them to 1st place. He made his team into a contender with players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho, and Kevin-Prince Boateng.

They don't need the once great and now dulling star named "Ronaldinho". AC Milan will be better off now without him.

Ibrahimovic has been everything they could ask for and everything they were asking Ronaldinho to do. Through 21 games this season (UEFA Champions League and Serie A), Ibrahimovic has scored a total of 13 goals and assisting on 7 more. That's well above Ronaldinho's total of one goal and four assists in eleven appearances.

Beyond Ibrahimovic, there is Robinho, Boateng and Alexander Pato. Those are three good reasons why there is no room for a dying star like Ronaldinho on AC MIlan.

AC Milan also just signed forward Antonio Cassano from Sampdoria during the transfer window. Now you tell me: does the Rossoneri really need Ronaldinho?
