As the first week of the January transfer window comes to a close, it's time to have a quick look back at the biggest moves so far as well as some of those in the pipeline.

As with any transfer window, every major name is being tipped to join every club in need of a player. Whether it's David Beckham or Robbie Keane, you can be sure that the rumours won't stop until the transfers go through or the window slams shut at the end of the month.

A number of deals have already been finalised so here's the situation so far! I'm sure this will just be the top of the iceberg.

Hatem Ben Arfa

    Fee: Undisclosed

The young winger joined Newcastle in the summer on a loan move from parent club Marseille and he took to the Premier League like a duck to water.

At just 23-years-old, Ben Arfa was set to take the world by storm and has long been touted as one of Europe's top prospects bagging a sensational goal in one of his first appearances.

Unfortunately, he was dealt a cruel blow when, after just four experiences, he suffered a double leg fracture in a game against Manchester City.

He has however made excellent progress and Alan Pardew has seen enough to give the youngster a four-and-a-half year deal.

Edin Dzeko

    Status: Contract Negotiations

    Fee: £24 million

Dzeko has been a long term target of a number of Europe's top clubs and the Wolfsburg striker looks certain to join Manchester City within the next week now that the striker has passed his medical.

The 24-year-old has already scored 10 goals this season and Steve McClaren has already given the transfer the green light and said that Dzeko will surely light up the Premier League.

With the amount of money being spent, City fans will be hoping that the 6' 4" Bosnian will breathe life into a City side that have looked boring and lacking in ideas recently.

Who knows, he may end up being the vital cog to propel them to their first Premier League title.

    Status: Completed

    Fee: Loan Move

The young striker has struggled to break into the Manchester United team this season thanks to the form of Dimitar Berbatov and new signing Javier Hernandez as well as club hero Wayne Rooney.

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson's reluctance to allow him to leave on loan, he has admitted defeat and has realised that Kiko needs regular first team football if he is to continue his development.

Having already scored a number of important goals in his short time at the club he and Manchester United will be hoping that this move propels him onto big things.

David Beckham

    Pending: Loan Move

The much loved superstar is keen to return to the Premier League for three months before the start of the MLS season and a number of clubs announced their interest with January fast approaching.

However, Tottenham have emerged as the front runners and are currently in talks with LA Galaxy over a loan move that would see the Londoners pay all of Becks' basic wage of £80,000 a week.

The move could be exactly what Spurs need to mount a serious title push, with his proven quality coming off the bench and ability to change games with pinpoint crossing and world class dead ball skills.

The deal makes sense for Beckham, a born and bread Londoner who still owns his Beckhingham Palace residence in Hertfordshire.

This one looks a certainty if the two clubs can agree.

Andy Carroll

    Status: Enquiry

    Fee: £20 million

Andy Carroll has had his ups and downs this season but his performances on the pitch have sparked interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League.

Despite a number of rumours the only club that appear to have made an official approach are Spurs and their original offers have been rejected flat out by the Toon Army.

It is unknown whether Harry Redknapp will up his bid in order to land his man, but potential swap deals involving David Bentley and Peter Crouch have been touted.

It is unlikely that Carroll will leave this transfer window but if the bid clubs come knocking in the summer, it could only be a matter of time.

Steve Sidwell

Having found opportunity hard to come by at Villa Park, it is thought that Steve Sidwell is on the verge of joining midlands rivals Wolves.

The clubs scouts have been watching the former Chelsea and Reading man and are thought to be very keen on bringing him in to boost their survival chances.

Villa are prepared to let Sidwell leave as he is out of contract in the Summer.

Robbie Keane

    Status: Negotiations

    Fee: £7 million

This seems like the perfect match.

Robbie Keane is fed up with life on the bench at White Hart Lane and Birmingham City are in desperate need of a proven goalscorer to ensure their Premier League status for another year.

Birmingham have already tabled a £7 million bid but first team coach Peter Grant has admitted that there is a long way to go before Keane pulls on the blue shirt.

Blues fans will hope the deal does not turn into a saga after missing out on Roman Pavlyuchenko last January.

Gareth Bale

    Status: Interested

    Fee: £25 million +

The welsh winger has been in phenomenal form this season and his performances in the Champions League, in particular his hattrick against Inter Milan in the San Siro, have seen his stock rise considerably.

Along with Rafael van der Vaart he has been the heartbeat of everything positive at White Hart Lane this season and the club will not let him go without a fight.

Bale's agent has declared interest from another club but he believes only Real Madrid would have the financial muscle to do a deal this month.

The left winger has repeatedly spoke of his commitment to the London club who gave him his big chance and is unlikely to walk away at this stage, but whether he can resist the lure of Madrid is another question.

Ronaldinho

The Brazilian former superstar has been long linked with a return to his native land as his career continues to decline.

It looked nailed on that the beaver toothed one would be moving home and following the path of former international teammate Ronaldo, taking it easy and being worshipped in his homeland.

However recent rumours have seen Blackburn Rovers declare their interest courtesy of their new owners and although it an unlikely and risky move, Blackburn are keen to talk to him.

If this does happen - which I doubt - it will only end in disappointment.

    Interested: Liverpool, Wigan

    Status: Enquiry

    Fee: £20 million

The young hot prospect has been on the radar of a number of clubs following his impressive performances for Holland during last year's World Cup.

However, having little proven quality, many have been put off by the price tag and his biggest admirers in England - Liverpool - are unlikely to be able to afford such a high fee.

Wigan have sounded out Hamburg over a loan move for the starlet while Liverpool had been seeking a permanent deal.

Elia has admitted that he sees himself playing for a big club and Liverpool will be keen to secure his services if they can convince Hamburg to budge on the pricetag.

Birmingham City head the list of clubs fighting for the signature of this little known Argentinian, who is currently plying his trade at Boca Juniors.

Acoording to the player's agent, Birmingham have offered a loan deal with a view to a permanent move in the summer for around £1.25 million.

It is a similar move to the one Blues made in January 2008 when they signed unknown Argentinian Mauro Zarate, who is now playing in Serie A for Lazio.

Alex Mcleish will be hoping the 23-year-old will provide the spark Blues need in their fight against the drop.

Manuel Almunia

Manuel Almunia has long been ridiculed in the Premier League for his poor decision making and tendancy to flap, but for a long time he has still been the best that Arsenal have had at their disposal.

However, he has recently been dislodged from the Arsenal first team by Lukasz Fabianski and it appears that he will finally call time on his Arsenal career.

A number of Spanish sides are said to be interested and Arsenal are unlikely to stand in his way if he asks to move on.

David Bentley

A number of clubs have put their hats in the ring for the Spurs outcast who started so promisingly when he moved from Arsenal to Blackburn before sealing his big money move to White Hart Lane.

However, he has found opportunities scarce in the last 18 months and the form of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon have seen him become a forgotten man.

things might be looking up though as a number of clubs have shown interest, with Birmingham the most recent club to get involved.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is prepared to let him go and Alex Mcleish has been a long time admirer of Bentley.

Mauro Boselli

    Status: Rumours

    Fee: Loan Move

Boselli joined Wigan Athletic in the summer with manager Roberto Martinez and fans alike holding high hopes for the Argentinian.

However things haven't exactly gone to plan with Boselli making only 11 appearances and netting just once - in a Carling Cup tie against Swansea. Not what Wigan were expecting when they signed him Estudiantes La Plata.

Wigan are now prepared to let him go out on loan and a number of clubs in Italy are making their interest known, with Bari topping the list.

After a difficult few months it wouldn't surprise many if Mauro opted to head for the exit.

Julio Arca

One of the best paid players on Middlesbrough's books has only six months left on his contract and it looks likely that he is heading for the exit with a pair of Premier League clubs said to be keen on his signature.

With Boro struggling in the Championship and Arca still on Premier League wages it makes sens for the North East club to want to get rid.

The club have already accepted that they will have no choice but to offload the Argentine if the right offer comes in.

Sebastian Larsson

Sebastian Larsson has enjoyed an impressive season so far for Birmingham City and is out of contract in the summer.

Birmingham are keen to hold on to the midfielder, who has been at the club since joining on loan from Arsenal in 2006 before completing a permanent £1 million move the following season.

With Birmingham stepping up their interest in David Bentley, it could push the Swede towards the exit door.

Max Gradel

The 23-year-old pacey winger has been in scintillating form for Leeds United this term, helping to propel them to the upper echelons of the Championship.

The former Bournemouth and Leicester man has found himself on Newcastle's radar on the back of his performances and Alan Pardew is though to have declared his interest.

Unsurprisingly Gradel has voiced his wishes to compete in the Premier League but has yet to give any indication that he wants to make the move this month.
