Agent: ‘Subotic won’t quit Dortmund for Arsenal’

Arsene Wenger has been told he's wasting his time if he thinks he can get Neven Subotic to solve his defensive crisis.

The Arsenal boss is desperate to land a centre-back this month after another injury setback to Thomas Vermaelen and has been linked with moves for West Ham's Matthew Upson and Phil Jagielka of Everton.

He remained silent on his interest in Upson after Arsenal lost 1-0 to Ipswich in the Carling Cup but, as talkSPORT revealed on Wednesday, West Ham are adamant the England international is going nowhere.

Wenger is currently scouring the market for a solution to his defensive problems and Borussia Dortmund defender Subotic is on his radar.

The Serbian star is one of the most sought after defenders in Europe and has also interested Chelsea, but talkSPORT has been told the 22-year-old will stay at Dortmund this month.

His agent Stephen Kelly said: "Neven has a good contract where he is. He gets mentioned all the time, which is no wonder.

"But he won't be leaving this month."
