Arsene Wenger's failure to spend on more experienced players means that for the sixth consecutive year Arsenal could end their season trophy less. There is no debate that there is a lot of potential at Arsenal, but in certain areas an experienced head is needed. Time and time again we see Arsenal get to the business end of the season only to disintegrate in the process.

You look at Man. Utd and there is indeed a balance of youth and experience. Players like Scholes, Giggs, Ferdinand, Vidic, and Carrick guide the younger players like Anderson, Nani, Rooney, and co during the most demanding period of the season. At Arsenal, the best players are the younger ones without a lot of experience when it comes to winning trophies.

Areas were Arsene Wenger needs to make changes include the midfield and central defense. Now to do that he needs money and the one way he can generate money is through player sales. The likes of Rosicky, Arshavin, Bendtner, Squillaci, Almunia, and Eboue need to be sold. These players all have one thing in common and it is no doubt their inconsistencies. To build a successful side you need a lot of consistent players, players who will be able to put in a good shift for more than 6 months of a 9 month campaign.

It is incredible but Arsenal's defense has improved from last season. Many people keep deriding Arsenal about their defense but they have conceded one less goal than United after 32 games in the Premier League. That speaks volume considering we have been without Vermaelen since August.

However, it is an area we still need to improve on because it is not necessarily the number of goals conceded that determines how good a team's defense is, but rather the type of goals that it concedes goes a long way in determining how bad or good that defense is. With Arsenal, the problem with their defense is their vulnerability on set-pieces and some academic goal-keeping errors. To solve this problem Arsene needs to sign a tall defender like Gary Cahill or even a cheaper Per Mertsacker.

Arsenal have one of the lightest midfield in the Premier League and that is saying a lot considering that they are second in the table. There is no power or strength in the midfield and that's why we give the ball away so cheaply. It also explains why Arsenal find it difficult to win the ball back without resorting to stupid fouls as we see with Alex Song all the time, and that could even explain the unbelievable events of the Liverpool game. Jack Wilshere does too much in midfield for his age and is crying for help which Song, Diaby, and Denilson have failed to provide this season. So Arsene should sign a robust midfield enforcer like Nzonzi from Blackburn.

Amazingly, the one area that Arsene always seem to have a handle on have eluded him this season. Arsenal for the first time in a long long time have looked average in the final third. For a team built to attack with efficiency, it is unbelievable that they have struggled to score goals this season particularly at the Emirates where every team comes now to defend and counter attack.

The poor form of Arshavin, Fabregas, Bendtner, and Chamakh have had a huge effect on this team's ability to put the ball in the net. This is an area that can be fixed easily with the addition of an adequate striker like Papiss Cisse from Freiburg. This guy could be the striker that Arsenal are looking for since although Van Persie is great he can't assure everyone that he will be fit for an entire campaign. In addition, Arsenal already have an excellent player on loan in Ryo Miyaichi. Once this guy is allowed to play in England, he will become a sensation; one that would provide Arsenal with a more ruthless streak in the final third and push Arsenal to glory once again.
