According to reports coming out from different sources, Liverpool FC is being linked with a number of players as Kenny Dalglish prepares a squad that will try to win back a top four spot in the league and hence a Champions League qualification spot.

I've tried to cover most of the happening transfer news from across different forums, and I've tried to line up the top five players currently being linked with Liverpool over the past week.

Most of the prospects are also being linked with other clubs from England and across Europe, and I've mentioned a few other clubs vying for the players' signatures.

    Thank you for reading.

According to Inside Futbol, Napoli are keen to keep hold of striker Edinson Cavani this summer as interest in the Uruguay star grows.

Cavani has been in lethal form in this season’s Serie A and is one of the main reasons Napoli have been able to push for the Scudetto this season. Both Real Madrid and Liverpool are interested in signing the Serie A player.

The 24-year-old is Serie A’s current top goalscorer with 26 to his name and is under contract until 2015 at the San Paolo, earning €1.8M per year.

De Laurentiis though is prepared to offer Cavani a one-year extension which would take his annual pay to €3 million but will also crucially insert a €50 million buy-out clause.

Guillem Balague, on his website www.guillembalague.com, has confirmed that Jose Enrique is attracting interest from English clubs and Liverpool is one of them.

There are question marks on the part of Liverpool`s scouting team about his defending, but time is on his side and he can improve that area of his game. He would be a great signing for Liverpool.

Niko Kranjcar from Tottenham Hotspur

According to reports in the London Evening Standard, Niko Kranjcar is believed to have told close friends that he would prefer a move to Liverpool in a bid to land regular first team football.

The midfielder has two years remaining on his current contract at White Hart Lane but after a lack of opportunities this season, is determined to leave in the summer.

German side Werder Bremen were also linked with the 26-year-old during the January transfer window and are believed to be ready to bid again in the summer

Sylvain Marveaux from Rennes

According to Daily Mail, Liverpool are set to sign French international Sylvain Marveaux on a free transfer from Rennes, the first of several new faces expected at Anfield this summer.

The winger, who was at Anfield in December last year for the Reds 1-0 home defeat to Wolves, is believed to have agreed a four-year deal.

Marveaux, who refused to sign a new deal with Rennes, has been out injured since November after re-aggrevating a groin injury during a Ligue 1 clash.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Liverpool are chasing Barcelona star Bojan Krkic.

Much was expected of the young striker after his prolific form throughout the club's youth ranks, but he has so far failed to produce his best in the first team.

The 20-year-old has often struggled to break into Barca's star-studded starting lineup and has been utilised mainly from the bench in the last four seasons.

But sources in Spain have suggested that Bojan will look to move on in the summer in a bid to secure more regular first team football.

The striker has started just seven La Liga games all season and only 40 since his breakthrough into the first team in 2007.

Now Barcelona are reportedly ready to let him leave, and Arsenal and Liverpool are among a host of clubs who are keen on making a bid for him in the summer.
