Barcelona Wish-List: Five Attacking Options for Barcelona Next Season

As the summer transfer window approaches, Barcelona and Arsenal are all set to resume their off-the-field rivalry over Cesc Fabregas. Having said that, I hope that Barcelona can let him go so they can concentrate on bringing other players to Camp Nou.

Barcelona's priorities would be to strengthen their defense, which has been a little thin for the past two seasons with Carles Puyol battling injuries and the left-back position still up for grabs. Having said that, I believe Barcelona can still try to get at least one attack-minded player, be it a striker, a winger or an attacking midfielder.

I've tried to draw up a list of players that I would like to see at Camp Nou next season. Some of them have been linked to Barcelona in the past and some haven't.

Rossi has been a prolific scorer for the yellow submarines this season, and has attracted a lot of suitors with his attractive style of play. Despite signing a new contract with the club, the former Manchester United striker has not ruled out a summer move.

Gerard Pique is impressed with Rossi’s style of play, and believes that it is quite similar to the way they play at Barcelona. The defender said that his club should move quickly to sign the striker.

Villarreal would command a sum of £30 million or more from suitors to acquire his services.

However, during his sale to the Spanish side, Manchester United placed a clause in his contract affording them the first right to purchase the player if Villarreal plan to sell him.

Another attacking option I really like is Thomas Müller. The Golden Boot winner at the World Cup Finals is an immense talent who is able to do what Juan Román Riquelme used to do in his Argentina days: killer passes, daft touches and the ability to score!

He was officially presented with the Hyundai Best Young Player award at a ceremony held in Munich, Germany for his performance at the World Cup. 

Müller can play as a midfielder or forward, and has been deployed in a variety of attacking roles—as an attacking midfielder, second striker and on either wing. He has been praised for his pace, technique and composure, and has shown consistency in both scoring and creating goals.

Whether or not Barcelona bid for him in the summer is another matter, but I reckon he is one of the greats at his position at the moment and his game play would suit Barcelona. 

The 22-year-old Brazilian striker has made close to 100 official appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk since moving to the Ukraine in the summer of 2007, and is one of the hottest properties in football lately.

At Shakhtar, he plays as an attacking midfielder or winger and has raw talent, unmatched pace and skill with the ball at his feet. He is a good dribbler and could be a long term replacement for David Villa on the left flank.

Willian has admitted he would be fulfilling a dream if he was to join Barcelona. Willian also impressed in Shakhtar’s Champions League campaign and his bursts in short spells wouldn't have gone unnoticed by Pep Guardiola. 

19-year-old Brazilian striker Neymar is another bright prospect for the future and is expected to leave Santos during the summer with a number of European clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, vying for the signature of the €30 million rated striker. 

Spanish daily AS has suggested that the highly-rated youngster has caught the attention of Spanish title holders Barcelona with his impressive performances for Santos and Brazil in the past couple of months and could be on his way to Barcelona in the summers. 

At 19, he could be a replacement for Bojan if he decides to leave, but then again, it would be interesting to see if Barcelona actually pay that much for a striker, who in my opinion, would be interchangeable with Pedro in the Barcelona starting line-up. 

An attacking midfielder, Eriksen has already been compared with Danish football legends Michael and Brian Laudrup, and is set to be Denmark's future star. 

Eriksen is already in the eyes of  Premier League clubs. Dennis Bergkamp tipped Arsenal off to the attacking midfielder and Liverpool's director of football strategy, Damien Commoli, is another long-term fan.

He was called up for Denmark's friendly against England. where Eriksen was named Man of the Match in a 2-1 loss, winning praise from Chelsea star Frank Lampard.

Although he might prefer to come to Camp Nou, Barcelona would have to act early if they want to sign the talented midfielder. With interest from the Premier League intensifying, he could be tempted to think otherwise. 

Only 18, Pep would have to think whether it is worth spending all the money on the Danish player with all the talent he has at his disposal coming out of the academy.
