    Luis Suarez and Top 10 South Americans in the English Premier League

      South American football has been the champagne football of years. Teams like Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay have succeeded at world football and the trend has now shifted to the Premier League.

      Dozens of players are now coming to England, to apply their trade here and it must be said that they've been pretty influential. 

      In no given order, here is my list of top 10 players in the league.

      P.S: I earlier had Javier Hernandez in the list and have replaced him by Chelsea's Ramires because Mexico does not fall under South America. My apologies.  

    Anderson (Manchester United)

      Anderson has mostly been used as an impact player, he has been successful and has played his part in Manchester United's Champions League this season. 

    Maxi Rodríguez (Liverpool)

      Rodriguez has not impressed much until the latter stages of the season where he has managed to score goals at free-will. 

      Under Kenny, the player has been given opportunities and has re-paid it back with style. 

    Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle)

      Nicknamed "Spider-man", the Argentinian has been one of the best players for Newcastle this season.

      His career has been hit by injuries but nonetheless has performed when called upon.

    Carlos Tevez (Manchester City)

      Manchester City's captain, the Argentinian is a workaholic on the pitch. His goal-scoring has been phenomenal over the past few seasons.

      Sadly, he could leave the Premier League this season due to personal reasons.  

    Alex (Chelsea)

      Since joining Chelsea from PSV, Alex has performed well for the London club, partnering up with John Terry at the heart of defense.

      Known for his physical strength, imposing size and powerful free kicks, Alex has been solid for Chelsea in his time at the club.

    Antonio Valencia (Manchester United)

      A Christiano Ronaldo replacement, Valencia’s exploits earned the Ecuadorian a move to Old Trafford last summer after a string of good performances and has since proved a hit for United.

      Extreme pace and good crossing makes him a difficult man to pin down. 

    Sandro (Tottenham)

      The Brazilian midfielder has enjoyed a strong second half of the season after initially struggling in the Premier League following his £8 million from Internacional.

      A number of clubs are already trying to take him on board, one of them being Real Madrid. 

    David Luiz (Chelsea)

      David Luiz is a typical South American defender, strong at the back and never afraid to make a challenge.

      The 24-year-old has also shown an intent of going forward and has scored a couple of brilliant goals for Chelsea. 

    Luis Suarez (Liverpool)

      The former Ajax player has taken the Premier League by storm. He's quick, a talented dribbler and never shy to shoot.

      He is already being tipped to be a legend at Liverpool. 

    Ramires (Chelsea)

      Ramires joined Chelsea in the summer of 2010 on a four-year contract after one season with Benfica. The £18.3 million signing has claimed that his boss reckons he would be the best Brazilian in the premier League..  

      “My boss at Chelsea is my number one fan and told me I have the chance to be the best Brazilian in the history of the Premier League.”
