Arsenal Transfer News: Samir Nasri Has Sealed His Fate With Latest Comments

Somehow, I doubt Samir Nasri will get a rousing ovation the next time he steps on the pitch at the Emirates.

The French midfielder has burned his bridges at Arsenal with his latest comments on his prolonged contract dispute with the club.

The young star and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger have failed to come to terms for some time now, which has led to rumors of a departure to either Manchester City or Manchester United.

Nasri has made it clear that his reluctance to sign on the dotted line with the Gunners has nothing to do about money but everything to do with what has been so elusive for Arsenal over the past few seasons—trophies.

Per the Daily Mail:

The Gunners midfielder hinted at a possible exit after admitting he is craving silverware. 

He said: 'With no titles under your belt, you can't be in list for Ballon D'Or. I came to England for trophies because I've not won anything in my career, apart from an Under 17 European Championship in 2004.

'We already earn huge wages. The priority is to make a big career and to win titles. This is more important than everything else.

You have to admit, it's cute how Nasri thinks he could be in the running for Ballon D'Or. 

If Nasri wants to be the best player in the world, he needs to start showing up consistently on the biggest stages in football.

Last year, the midfielder had moments of sheer brilliance, only to be followed up with periods of play where he was invisible on the pitch, which usually coincided with Arsenal's biggest matches of the season.

While Nasri may want to win trophies, he has to look in the mirror and realize that he is a major reason why Arsenal fell short in so many top stages last season.

If he wants silverware, it's not going to be handed to him. He is going to have to go out and earn it with stellar play, something the Gunners didn't get from him late last season.

It is too easy to blame the club for his lack of success as a player, but anyone who watched the Frenchman last year will tell you that he had a subpar season. It was even more frustrating when you factor in how well he played at times.

Last season was a tease from Nasri, and now he's using his own personal failures to trash the club that gave him an opportunity to play top level football.

No Gunners supporter will ever forgive that, and whether he stays or goes, Nasri will be a persona non grata at the Emirates next season and beyond.
