Manchester United: 4 Most Surprising Players So Far

0 of 4

Manchester United is a team that is built on Champions.  They have found a huge amount of success with the team they have put on the pitch this year.  So far they have not lost a match this year and they continue to look better and better with every match.

Here is a look at four players who are making big contributions to the team this year.  They have found a lot of success with this squad.  These players were either acquired over this year or the past few years.  Each one has their own set of qualities and skill level.  Who knows maybe the next Wayne Rooney is among them.

David De Gea

Amidst all the criticism that keeper David De Gea has faced ever since he joined Manchester United he is turning into a great keeper who is filling Edwin van der Sar's role nicely.

De Gea has played a huge part in Manchester United's success, so far, this season.  In all of United's games De Gea has started in six games.  In those six he has 31 saves only allowing six goals.

De Gea has proven that he is a good keeper and has passed every test that teams have thrown at him so far.

Ashley Young

Midfielder Ashley Young came from Aston Villa over the transfer period and has been a major contributed to United's success.

Young has played five games for United and has scored two goals off of 12 shots and added five assists to his total.  Young had a great cross off of a free kick which connected with Chris Smalling to give United it's first goal against Chelsea.

Young has shown his worth by attributing a lot to this Manchester squad and looks to help them as they go deeper in the season.

Phil Jones

3 of 4

Phil Jones was acquired from Blackburn over the transfer window and has strengthened United defense considerably.  Jones has the ability to play midfield which has made him valuable on the attack which proved to be important in the match against Chelsea.

Jones proved to be very important in the match against Chelsea where he had a big tackle on Juan-Marta and after he won a one-on-one ball against Fernando Torres.

The biggest contribution from Jones came right before half, where he charged forward which would allow Wayne Rooney to score a goal.

Jones is a quick, powerful defender who is very good on both defense and offense making him a vital role on this team.

Danny Welbeck

4 of 4

Forward Danny Welbeck returned off a loan from Sunderland and is currently one of Manchester United's leading scorers.

Welbeck currently has played in three games in the EPL this season.  In those three games Welbeck has two goals off of eight shots and one assist.  Welbeck is a great player who works well with Rooney up top.  Welbeck is dangerous offensively and can punish defenders if they take him lightly.  The 20-year old should only improve as his career continues with United.
