Liverpool FC: 5 Players Who Could Follow Kenny Dalglish out of the Club

0 of 5

As everyone in the football world knows by now, Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool parted ways on Wednesday after a disappointing season by the Reds.

With tons of speculation surrounding the managerial situation and who will take over at the club, there also is speculation on which players will leave the club now as well.

While the managerial situation is a far more attractive discussion at this point in time, the transfer season is upon us as well, and the owners of the club may get rid of some players before the new manager is named.

Here are five players that regardless of who is the manager next season will be on their way out of Anfield this summer.

Dirk Kuyt

Dirk Kuyt has been one of Liverpool's most consistent players, but it is time for the 31-year-old to move on to the next step of his career.

Kuyt did not agree with how Dalglish was using him, or the lack there of his use on the pitch, and is now also of the older players on the Reds roster.

With a chance for younger players like Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling to break through into the squad next season, it is time for the Reds to cash in on Kuyt.

Where he goes, no one really knows at this point, as the Dutchman has already refused a return to Feyenoord.

Joe Cole

Joe Cole has been out of English football for year while on loan at Lille, but is still a Liverpool player who is now a surplus to an already crowded midfield.

Cole will not return to Lille on a permanent basis, and there really is not a place for him right now at Anfield either.

With a return to Ligue 1 out of the question, a possible solution for the Englishman is a move to one of the smaller clubs in the Premier League as a player with a ton of top flight experience.

Wherever he ends up, Cole still has a few years left in his career at 30 years of age and will be a solid investment for any club willing to pay for him.

Alberto Aquilani

It is safe to say that Alberto Aquiliani will not be a Liverpool player next season regardless of who the manager is.

Since moving to Liverpool from Roma in 2009, Aquilani has barely seen any time in the first team and has been sent out on loan twice.

Aquilani is a player more suited for Serie A, as many people, including Dalglish, have found out, and although AC Milan have turned down a permanent move for the midfielder, some club will welcome Aquilani back to Italy.

Fabio Aurelio

Fabio Aurelio is one of the few players at Liverpool that already knows his fate, as Dalglish released him from his contract before he was let go.

Aurelio's time at Liverpool was ravaged by injuries, as he only played 24 games in the past two seasons.

The best option for the left back may now be a return to Brazil, and his stock as a player in Europe has fallen over the past few years while he has been at Liverpool.

Stewart Downing

As much as Liverpool fans want to say Stewart Downing is a good player, he has done nothing other than occupy time on the pitch this season.

Downing only scored two goals for the club this season, and they came in the FA Cup while he did not produce a single goal or assist during the Premier League season, in which he played 36 games.

The England international may be stuck at Anfield because of his poor performance this season, but there is no doubt that the Anfield faithful want him gone or to drastically improve his performance.
