I can't believe they're planning to use the same engine for ESVI. As someone who used to champion Bethesda back in the Morrowind and Oblivion days, it's sad to see them come to this. You really do either die a hero or become the villain.

I always say don't knock it till you try it, and I'm going to try it out.

It's actually fun. It's like a 7.5. Definitely not for hardcore Fallout fans. It's more for the fans of Fallout that enjoy the setting and exploring more than the story. I'm enjoying it now and I wasnt a fan of the beta.

Wow. Bethesda should be embarrassed to have released this game. It's becoming more of a joke as the reviews pound it into the ground.

I have no interest in playing Fallout 76, as I predicted it was going to be rushed mess of a game. I think it is about time a Bethesda title took a hard critical hit due to the studio’s development practices.

Yeah, you're going to need to hold your buddy's hand to play this, just to make sure they don't run off and leave. Nobody wants to play this anymore. For a game in which bombs are so thematic and representative, this game sure bombed, and rightfully so.

What's all the hate? Haven't played the game just curious. I want to hear from a gamer perspective instead of review.

I’m not even a fallout fan but I can see there is some fun to be had with this game. I agree that it is crap at the moment and if tomorrow’s update doesn’t fix the frame rate (my number one complaint) then I won’t bother with this game any longer.

I rented it for free to play with for a single day. I was so bored from beginning to end. Sure I like Bethesda's style of retro humor, and those flying robots have cute things to say. But the game was so painfully boring. A massive open world with only 24 people online per server? I barely saw anyone, and the people that I did see, I didn't interact with any of them, nor did they interact with me.

The game feels unbalanced especially early on as well. I was level 2, heading on my way to the third mission, when the game suddenly crashed on me. Alright fine, so I reload my save, this time appearing on a different random server. Well this random server had an event going on right where I respawned, level 10* and level 8 enemies were chasing me right away, when all I wanted to do was complete the next story mission, I couldn't! They wouldn't stop chasing me until I died. I was shouting at them "Just leave me alone! I just want to complete the next mission!" So frustrating!

I completed a few more missions, none were really engaging, mostly just teaching me how to play. Picked up a few audio logs, which go on for so long. No story cut-scenes, but plenty of long-winded back story for already-dead characters. How interesting (*snooze*).

After 4 hours I no longer had the desire to continue, the combat was clunky, frame rate drops even with a single enemy appearing on screen, teaming up with others isn't going to happen unless if you make friends outside of the game, then agree to party up within the game.

Even if this game was given 'free' from PS+ or XBLG I still wouldn't bother playing it more.

Exploring an MMO world with ugly graphics & rando gangs clipping you in-between tasks devoid of soul sounds like a terrible time. Like I said from the beginning, I’ll be skipping this & while I don’t wish anyone fearing for their jobs, they need to go back to the drawing board with Fallout 5 in almost every facet of the game.

Well at least we can always depend on Doom Eternal to save Bethesda

That was a horribly written review, but an honest one.

The issue with this game is that it doesn't know what it wants to be. If this were simply a standard Fallout game with added co-op and PVP I think most fans would be fine, the issue is they're trying to make a softcore dayz that looks like Fallout, glitches like Fallout but lacks the core story and atmosphere that makes Fallout.

I do think the ESO approach would've also have been incorrect, my issue with ESO is that it looks vaguely like a TES game but plays more like any generic MMO, which isn't bad, but also not my kinda thing.

If you're still curious to try this game, buy it used. Don't give Bethesda money for it. Vote with your wallet!

From someone who owns the game and has played at least 30 hours I can say that the game is good yeah there are bugs but who didn’t expect a game of this scale not to have a few bugs . Try playing with a group of people like the game is intended and you will find that it’s a really fun time

This sounds sooo right, it's wrong. My guilty pleasure seeing bad games going in the trash where it belongs.

Anyone complaining the game doesnt deserve 16/100 here is a short list of game bugs some game breaking.

"The game crashes a fair amount. It can be anything from simply loading the game up, to being attacked by too many enemies at once that causes it."

"weird visual glitch can occur with certain interactions. The best example of this was with a flamethrower trap which is part of a quest. Whenever it fired, the screen effectively killed the pixels where they hit the handrail on the other side, creating a blank spot in the dreary decrepit building in which it was set. Of course, this glitch requires all the textures and scenery to actually load in, which isn’t a guarantee."

"At one point I had a Ghoul sliding along the floor as if by magic, but shooting him was nearly impossible as he was actually being obscured by the floor itself. There is also an odd one where your aiming reticule will tell you that you’ve got an enemy in your sights, except you don’t."

"There is a chance that any enemy you kill will end up frozen in place, and one of the Scorched ended up dabbing as a final act, frozen in time, about six inches off of the ground. It is nice to see a AAA game get scores below 5/10, especially when it is warranted (like in this case). Publishers are doing whatever they can to earn $$$ while putting-in (what seems like) minimal effort. It is pretty clear that Bethesda was counting on the Title and Prestige of the game to push-them towards strong sales. I have not seen the sales number, and I hope this game bombs -- Bethesda has earned poor reviews and low profits for the hack-job they did on this game.

I wish the author of the article would go into greater detail when criticizing Fallout 76. The lack of details in the article makes it read like the author/gamer needs to release some steam -- especially when frequently using the word "I", instead of separating ones feelings from their criticism.

The game needs to be heavily scrutinized; and the lack evidence/analysis causes a lack of validity. How many times can someone use words like horrendous, terrible, awful, and mess, without going into detail?

I am curious to hear from gamers who purchased this game what their experience is like, and the moment that they gave-up on this AAA dumpster-fire.

Save the edgy user review bombs for steam and metacritic. Nobody here cares.

I paid £30 for this, have put a fair few hours into it, 6.5/10 from me. It feels like an add on and is far from perfect , they should have given it another yr to develop. The worst fallout (from 3 onwards) so far ,fun in a group but lacking in single player.

Phil Spencer is destroying Xbox. Which two or three people on a Bethesda forum somewhere wants him to join fallout 76 team? He would ruin that too.

Just because two or three people on a forum want him to do that doesn't make it everyone.

Have patience. They working diligently on an AI that will do all of this work.

FO76 is a decent game, but some fundamental changes would have to be made to improve it in any substantial way.
