Gearbox said it's a temporary early adopter's price.

porkChop1678d ago

Yeah they launched it at a discount. This isn't really a price increase, it's just going back to MRSP.

Godmars2901678d ago

How does it make any real sense to sell something below an intended price only to raise it later? More so a premium item

The only thing that would make sense is that you can say you have the higher sales numbers day-one, cause day-one sales are the only that matter to you.

Literal_Cringe1678d ago

It's an incentive for people who wanted to play it day one and for other people that still deciding I guess, a few indie titles do this as well

MadLad1678d ago

Perk for early adoption? It's like discounts for pre-order.

rainslacker1678d ago

I'm not really sure if it's worth the $99 I spent on it. Mostly it's just skins and the season pass, with a steel book. It's a nice steelbook, but season passes aren't usually 40 bucks. The skins are nothing of interest to me, but I suppose some people like them, and they came with the package so whatever.

SonyStyled1678d ago

It’s pretty common for physical music album releases to do this. 2 weeks after release the price spikes $10 or something

Godmars2901678d ago

@Literal_Cringe:
No, by what I gather from the article, this is similar to a "free taste" from a dealer. Given pre-order bonuses and season pass for buying post release. Get you attached or hooked for the next season passes.

Seraphim1678d ago

I don't get it. So the Deluxe Edition is $80 and the Super Deluxe is $100 atm. The only additional thing you get with the Super Deluxe is the Season Pass and the "exclusive butt stallion cosmetic pack." The Season pass will probably be, what, $35-40 I suppose. $100 for the Super Deluxe seems like a pretty normal/reasonable price to me. So what, they're going to increase it to $110, $120? I get the early adopter bit but MSRP more than $100 on this package? Seems excessive to me.

drunkenspy0071677d ago

initial sales are a big deal.

Muzikguy1677d ago

so many things are sold at a discount to entice people then prices go up later. Just hasn't happened in video games. I hope this isn't the start of a trend honestly

For some reason I'm under the impression that this game didn't get reviews as good as the previous ones, so shouldn't they try to overpass that and give a discount?

Rude-ro1678d ago

The game is fantastic.
Majority of reviews were great as well.
Only a couple of anchors weighted it down.
The best looter shooter out this gen.

neutralgamer19921678d ago (Edited 1678d ago )

Very nice most reviews are yet to come out because 2k wanted good reviews early

Overall this game will sit closer to 80 when it's all set and done compared to 91 for borderlands 2. I do agree with best looter shooter part but let's be serious how many good ones are in the market to begin with? So that's not much of praise when most looter shooters are average to good

"Please note that starting September 17, 2019, 2K’s SRP for the digital version of the Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe Edition will update to £104.00"

Rachel_Alucard1678d ago

It's because of the UK region taxes. They only temporarily held it down to gain more buyers until the game released.

Mr Pumblechook1677d ago (Edited 1677d ago )

@Rachel_Alucard. Your statement is FACTUALLY INCORRECT. UK VAT is included in the final price of every item for sale. It's not possible for a company to choose to withhold tax being included in their products and then to add it at a later date. If there is a price increase of the product then clearly it is the decision of the publisher.

rainslacker1677d ago

They can't withhold the tax, but they can lower the actual price of the product itself. They'll end up not making as much money, but it can be done.

"Borderlands 3: Ultimate Edition" (Switch) Review \\ paulsemel

Though far from the best version, this does a mostly good job of bringing this snarky sci fi shooter to the Switch.

borderline unplayable lmao

InUrFoxHole231d ago

Really like the series but each one seems more of the same to me. Needs a mix up. Tiny Tina was ok at 1st but overall meh.

gold_drake230d ago

you can only make a 1st person looter shooter so much different.

fans dont play it for the ganeplay but more for the story i would assume.

i know i did. and cause i liked the characters

InUrFoxHole230d ago

Idk but they're solid overall

FalcorMononoke231d ago

The first 3 games were great on the Switch so I'm sure this one will be good.

Profchaos231d ago

Hate to say it but this was a bad game I don't see the merit in porting it unlike the first 2
