it's the artist, not the amount spent on a game. once you reach AAA status the art director and the team is what makes a game great.

Xbox one x is the most powerful console right now. yet Sony's games, Spider-Man, Horizon ect..
look better in every way. people want quality, and money doesn't guarantee that.

plus i find it hard to believe that a company that has only released 1 AAA game in the last 3 yrs, and that thinks old games are the future, would spend that kind of money. I mean all their games financially have flopped. that's the only reason for gamespass. smaller investment in product for higher numbers of people.

Bigger budget doesn't automatically make a game score higher or better. Crackdown 3 undoubtedly cost a lot to make as it was dealing with highly experimental cloud graphics and amounted to not much.

And, per usual with every Halo since Halo 2, the game will likely still be bland as hell, with gameplay that feels outdated by a decade. But yeah, they'll make a lot of hype and the launch will be big, just like any major corporate endeavor. A platform starving for first party content will also help.

Almost every halo has been on the lists and that's with them being on one console, halo infinite will be on all xbox devices, pc, xcloud. Crazy to not call it big. Hoo, boy. Is Halo a big deal? I mean, yeah, I think so. Arguably less now than before, I would say.

But are you really going to say Master Chief is more iconic than Link or Crash? Heck, at this point, I don't even think MC is more iconic than Kratos: The highest selling Halo game, according to VGChartz (so approach that information with caution) was Halo 3. The highest selling God of War was God of War (2018). That's a single player game versus a multiplayer title. You can easily buy a copy and lend it to a friend. Halo, if anything, would encourage scores of people to buy so they may play together. If you've noticed, one of those series is on an upward trajectory while the other has declined.

the first last of us sold 15 million alone. Last of us 2 will do for a fact even better. Mark my comment. They hype for the game is unreal. Not to mention I had a bunch of friends who are die hard xbox fans they played last of us with me and had to go get a ps3 or ps4. The game is maybe the best game made in the last decade or at least one of the best. Halo was big when I was a kid. lol it has died down since. Still the first two are some great games, but they never pushed past those two sales or game play wise imo

It isn't easy. You have fluff numbers like "active users" which have to have strict parameters around them to have any real meaning. And you can't pretend those numbers are equitable to sales. Rare bragged about 10 million players for Sea of Thieves. In sales numbers, that is pretty damn good. But we are just talking about "participation" and not even putting any meaning behind that. How many of those 10 million logged in once, didn't like it, and logged off, never to return. Rare still counts it though. Too much fluff.

If MS or other game publishers want to brag about the game player numbers then they need to measure sustained activity. How many players would Rare brag about if they only included those who played for 8 hours or more? Probably quite a bit less. And so they won't do that. PR Fluff is easier. But it is a good question. How do you measure success of a game when the price for entry is sometimes as low as a dollar? There are no good answers, I'm afraid.

At the other end of the scale we don't know how Rare is defining active users. So, in reality these could all be legitimate. You are simply assuming it is only who has ever logged in.

The problem is there is no industry wide definition. And the world of measure how "big" a game is, is an evolving concept. There are F2P games, subscriptions, and games sold as retail. And there are combinations of all those. I guess the reality is that it is harder and harder to accurately measure how "big" a game is now.

A game like TLOU is really centered around the quality of the SP experience and MP is secondary. Halo is 50/50 SP and MP.... Then Fortnite which is really all MP. All are big games. which one is biggest is more a matter of what you prefer to get out of it as a gamer. They are three very different experiences from a gaming perspective.

Even though personally I don't have high hopes for it, I think FF7R will be a safe choice as well for largest release.

I enjoy Helldivers 2 but it isn’t phenomenal or anything, its just a good game. Sure us ps5 players don’t have many multiplayer games so maybe that skews perspective. What we should be worrying about Is all the bugs and issues that STILL plague the game. It shouldn’t have been released in this state.

Probably within a year, but don't worry. They will still be available on the box of your choice, except if Switch is your choice.
