In the beginning I didn’t care that much about atreaus but when I didn’t have him for that little bit of time I felt like I needed him. This is up in my top ten games of all time, so good, the whole game

Muzikguy1525d ago

When I was playing I had weird impressions too, except mine were towards his father. I was constantly thinking about how much of an asshole he was towards his kid and was unsure if I'd play through. I did though and yes, the game is amazing. Just like other exclusives it's up there as a favorite this gen

SyntheticForm1525d ago

Then the kid turns into a brat at one point and you're thinking "He's gotta set this boy straight."

Muzikguy1525d ago

Kind of. That's how kids are though. Maybe I feel different about it because I've got a 3 year old and I wouldn't be talking to him like Kratos was at the beginning of the game.

The Wood1525d ago

Are you a God. .

Not an easy job

Muzikguy1525d ago

Neither is parenting apparently lol. To me the kid was being normal. He asked questions. No big deal

TheKingKratos1525d ago

You should pay attention to the details ... the BOI was getting almost evil after he black ruine did something to him when he touched it his whole body was full of light and after that he changed to the point he didn't remember what he was doing

Muzikguy1525d ago

I was paying attention. That's why I stuck it out and played the game. He was getting angry as many kids (or even adults) do. Nothing wrong with that. I would have too in his situation. Anger led to confusion and lashing out.

@Muzikguy

You're applying real life values to a videogame. Kratos lives in an unbelievably harsh world. Soft parenting simply won't do if Atreus is to survive and thrive

I'll double dip if there's a PS5 version.

Muzikguy1525d ago

I already did that with TLOU and GTAV. I don't see me doing that anymore. TLOU is a great game but it was on the PS3 too so it was really tough for me to see much of a difference. Maybe if I had them both going side by side. GTA made me see (even though I already knew) how boring it was. There are games on the way now I just plan on waiting until the next version comes

ilikestuff1525d ago

Muzikguy
I double dipped those games as well, I feel I got taken and I knew it the whole time, I just didn’t care. The game gots to be real good for me to rebuy and replay, I don’t like rebuying and replaying but select games are worthy of my time and money again

Egon, if someone asks you if you're a God, you say YES!

PixelKnot1525d ago

I still remember the director filming himself reading reviews and tearing up. It's a beautiful success story that a took a lot of guts from the very beginning. Whether you're into this game/franchise or not, this is something to be inspired by.

SyntheticForm1525d ago

Game development can be a cryptic thing for us gamers; we know how things work to a degree and what's going on to a degree. Still, we're not there, and we're not really a part of development except for when we tell developers what we want and what we don't.

Watching the God of War | Raising Kratos | "Making Of" Documentary was so-eye opening. These people really put their lives into their work (much like we all do) but when you're not a developer and you're not in that community you don't really know the deal.

I encourage anyone who hasn't seen this to watch it when they have the time - great video.

People don't seem to like taking inspiration from anything these days. They call that "an agenda" and label it as a bad thing

yomfweeee1525d ago

Uh, no. Would have been GOTY even without Blades.

The Wood1525d ago

The blades cemented it. I nice nod to the franchise

yomfweeee1525d ago

No doubt it was a perfect nod and awesome part of the game. But, I don't like that this article acting like this was the defining part of the game. That's not why this game won so many awards.

Rimeskeem1525d ago

The blades with the soundtrack would put any earlier GoW player in tears of nostalgic happiness. It was absolutely perfect.

Shiken1525d ago

Yeah, pretty much the entire experience won it GotY 2018. There was no one moment that defined this masterpiece.

KwietStorm_BLM1525d ago

While I've loved Rockstar games for years, and I expected them to win, I was glad they didn't just give them the award by default. God of War truly deserved the recognition. Amazing how they broke down an existing franchise to the ground, then built up something so different, yet masterful.

God of War: How Atreus Could Become Just As Cool As Kratos

What if we told you that the future of the God of War franchise might just lie in the hands of Kratos’ young son, Atreus?

Might be in a minority here but I didn't enjoy any of the sections playing as Atreus or having companions at all. If I had my way it'd be Kratos on his lonesome from start to finish. Straightforward action gameplay without the endless boring chatter.
