One of the most insane League Cup matches in the competition's history ended with Arsenal winning 7-5 after extra time against Reading in their Capital One Cup fifth-round tie at the Madejski Stadium.
1: Walcott always deserves to start the game. This season he's rarely had that opportunity, probably because Wenger might want to pressure him into signing a new deal or whatever, but to me that seems completely the wrong way to do it,
2: Giroud and Chamakh looked dangerous when they were playing alongside eachother. My guess is they both work better in a 2-striker system. Maybe worth looking into that option, especially with Walcott wanting to play as a striker, Gervinho and Ox who are out injured, and Arshavin being not worthy of playing for Arsenal.
3: Speaking of Arshavin, I noticed both this article as well as goal.com mentioning he had a good game. I admit I only watched the 2nd half and the extra-time, but I barely saw him do anything do. He was either running head down into a pack of defenders, or just giving the ball away to the wrong color. I thought that once again he was horrible.
A few flashes of so-called brilliance don't mean much to me if 90% of what you do the rest of the game is poor.
4: I think the start of the season showed Arsenal needs Vermaelen to play as a center-back.
