Benitez: Liverpool did not have the cash to sign Dani Alves and Jovetic

Rafa Benitez has claimed that Liverpool was unable to back him financially when he tried to sign Dani Alves and Stevan Jovetic during his time at the helm of the Reds.

The Spaniard, who led the English outfit to Champions League glory in 2005, departed Anfield in the summer of 2010 after a disappointing seventh-placed finish in the Premier League.

Rafa could've built an astonishing squad after the 08-09 season that could've won the title. Liverpool at that time could attract any player in the world but did not have any money..

If we only had more money back then. I would welcome Benitez any time.

theres a reason you didnt have the money he wasted it only below average players.

alot of his signings wasted money even though they was small amounts it quickly adds up to an amount that could have brought a world class player in.

He's right he spent over 200 million pounds... Anyone can wait a few years and of the 10 players they want say they wanted the ones who turned out to be gems. Probably wanted Jack Shite and Joe Crap along with him.

get benitez back. lfc were a proper team with him, he built a world class midfield of gerrard, mascherano and alonso. not to mention torres, reina and even arbeloa who's madrids first choice right back.
