Buffon was better 10 years ago too at his peak when he won his world cup, and he's still better now even though he is older. He performed at the 2014 world cup, still number 1 in Italy's goal.
Casillas has been absolutely wretched this season. Madrid's basically been playing without a keeper. he's a package that needs to go. I can't stress enough how frustrating it is to have him between the sticks. A lot of Madridistas feel this way. What's happening with Keylor is killing me because he's a good keeper... Casillas was terrible during the world cup, Buffon is a better keeper, but both have had their day, that's not to say they were immense goal keepers.
