Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists the club did not take a gamble by fielding Owen Hargreaves against Wolverhampton Wanderers last Saturday.
Hargreaves suffered even more injury drama and is set to be ruled out for five more weeks with a hamstring injury after just returning from a two-year lay-off.
The 29-year-old was substituted just five minutes into his long-awaited return but Ferguson insists the club thought Hargreaves was in a fine physical condition after training 'really well' for more than a week.
Shame. Hargreaves used to be so talented. Hope he can recover soon
He will not come back after been injured for so long. And hamstrings injury are not easy to get rid of (the same as Owen)
As I predicted he didn't last 5 mins
