Hey guys,
Very often when I post a news story I get reported.
Normally its for two reasons:
1) I quote to much text
2) I add to many players or teams
1) From my point of view I prefere 10 times more to get to much information, than 1 sentence. If most of you guys prefere just a little bit, its just me, and I am fine with it.
(I agree it has to have its limits, but I mean some frases is for the good)
2) I prefere to add more teams and players than the one mentioned in the head line, if they are mentioned in the text.
Its because I like to read all about whats mentioned about my teams and players when I for example clique UNITED or SUAREZ in my choosen menu.
For example:
If a news story is mainly about Dalglish and Liverpool, I would still find it intresting if the article also writes that SUAREZ scored two goals and their next opponent is UNITED, wich dalglish fear.
Got my point?
And what do you think?
Please speak out!
(Again, I respect the reports if I am alone in my point of view).
I prefer more information too...
From the tuts/guidelines:
1) Write a SHORT summary of the information at the source story. You can either quote a paragraph of the source text or write a SHORT summary yourself.
2) Tags should only be added to submissions that are directly related to the tag.
From myself:
1) The aim for this site is to cover up stories over the web. That's why your submission link to a extern site and users can click on the "READ FULL STORY" link. If you copy/past the whole story, then it is useless to click on the link and some users can get confused and frustrated because they read the full story but it says in your submission that you didnt read the whole story, you get that?
Short means 2 or sometimes 3 paragraphs (depending on how long the paragraph is). If you are have problems with that, then you can check that on a easy way. If there is a white Gap under the picture then you did it to long. If the picture matches the external link (read full story), so the submission layout is still good to see, then u did it good!
2) Tags, I said it to many times here on the site. Sometimes it can be frustrating which tag you must add. But think outside the box.
Example, Title reads: Liverpool part company with Dalglish
Description: Liverpool announched today that they part company with Dalglish. The 60-year old coach wich took over Roy Hodgson last December had a negative record the last month against Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur and that is the reason why he is being sacked by the board.
So, in your way you add Liverpool, Roy Hodgsen, Dalglish, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
No this is wrong! Roy Hodgsen, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are mentioned in the description, but doesnt need a tag. They have nothing to do with the sack of Dalglish, they only be mentioned, that's all! If you add the tags and I look only for Manchester United news then I see that Dalglish are sacked, was that the reason why I looked for? No I only want to read Manchester United news! Do you get it now? You need to think outside the box! Only add tags that are RELATED to the main topic of the story!
Reports are no punishment. Its only to improve the site, so there are less errors in submissions! I notice much that if I report your story, then it always will failed (after 2 days), while you still was online. You can fix the report and then it will approved. Its no big deal ;)
EDIT: Wow, it has become a long comment without knowing, but that says enough to help the site ;)
