United were poor in the second half. Disjointed. City might feel good but it was more important for United that they got the result any which way. After the two games they had United will not be pleased with the manner of the performance...but when they relax they will remember the result and City being beaten at the Etihad for the first time in a year.
So City put up an admirable fight which was aided by a slack United. This may help City in the Premier league.
Both teams come out of the game with positives i think- whereas United should have ensured City were punished badly.
United will take the end result just because they needed something positive after the past couple weeks with the rumours and league results. I would take the F.A cup win, Manchester United have not won the cup in quite a long time now and if City manage to win the league, the cup would be some consolation.
some of you guys here are so retarded! winning IS WINNING! no matter how big the scoreline is but Utd still came out on top! it wouldn't have made any difference if it's 1-0 or 3-2 or even 5-0 for god sake! the winning side goes through and the losing side, well yeah, no cup FA cup for them this year!
this must of been hard for City too because they beat Utd for the final last year and this year they lost in the 3rd round against Utd!
We have had to put up with all the bitters, just let them keep showing their passion for United.
They all come out woodwork before the United fans have chance to comment. The only reason why this one was approved over mine was because of the bitters, Sahil and his goons.
Great result! We'll never die, we'll never die! We keep the red flag flying high because Man Utd NEVER DIE!
Kane, why are you bringing up De Gae? He wasn't even playing today! I've called you out on trashing De Gae before when he wasn't even on the bench for a match. He's a young keeper with great potential. He's got a long career ahead of him but he's going to make some mistakes along the way. That's the risk you have to take to mold a young keeper to world class and Fergie was willing to take the risk.
Wow City fans need to look at them slefs. United won and were winning when you had 11 men. Yes you pulled 2 goals back but you needed to score 3 for a draw and 4 for the win and you did not get any.
The ref was right to give out a red as the rule states a 2 footed tackle is a red. Yes he did not get nani but if nani had not pulled out of the tackle it would of hurt or even broken the players leg. There was no need to go in with 2 feet at the end of the day.
City have yet to win the league and you are talking as if it is over all ready. You are 3 points clear of a so call worst ever United side and this is supposed to be the best ever City side yet they have 1 cup to there name and are not in the champions league.
As for De Gea he has not had the best start to the season but if people stop and look back at big Peter he had a bad start to his time at United and look what happened there. Give him 12 to 18 months work in the Gym and to get the hang of the English game and he will be another world class keeper.
I am a United fan and I am happy city are up there going for the league with us because it adds an extra buzz to the league but the way City fans are talking at the moment they need to grow up. The season is far from over we have won 2 out of the 3 games we have played against each other this year and we are only 3 points behind you with alot of big names out and a so called week squad. Face it we will run you all they way to the end and if you dont win the league this year what will be you excuse then? We are rebuilding another Squad city have spent millions on this team but if they dont win anything yet again its money wasted.
He was equally bad across the board. He botched some big calls but he also got a ton of smaller calls completely wrong. Not a good day for that crew and they'll be getting a lot of criticism in the papers tomorrow.
just seen the Kompany tackle for the first time. If that's a red card, then they might as well ban slide tackling from the game all together. Fucking disgrace of a decision. Not surprised either, though.
You are a pathetic little twat.
wait for a few weeks and some championship side will knock you out again.
That was definitely not their 2nd team, Kane. They were suffering from injuries up front but were have injuries in the back. Both line ups were pretty even.
Hart was on the bench, Toure brothers both gone, Mario are most in form strikers out as is Dzeko and Silva wasn't fit enough to play a full game. Even Hargreaves came on thats how short City were. Even with only half a team though we could have levelled it with 10 men and thats a scary thought for any united fan who actually realises this and doesn't wear red tinted goggles. The league is Citys to lose.
Well atleast the harder teams out the FA cup because I would much rather play united than City and Kompanys banned for both legs of the carling cup semi final vs us.
The match was basically 13 men against 10 men.
I hope you United fans are happy to have cheated through to the 4th round like you have done for the past 2 seasons now.
Fergie Says: Well Done My Boy Well Done. twitpic.com/84tr98
Agreed in one sense the strongest team did lose however Kompanys ban will probably get rescinded. The united fans will never see Ref mistakes (well if you can call it a mistake looked very dubious) when they go there way even massive ones like this. They have won trophies on bad decisions so there used to them going there way.
It wont get rescinded because it was 2 footed, he had his studs up and if Nani hadnt of jumped he would of broken his leg(s) so you wont get it appealed because it was dangerous.
blah blah blah.. stop complaining there where bad decisions on both sides... an we have you in the next round so at least then your team will be involved so you'll have reason to feel so aggrieved when we beat you
kane_lfc you seem to have contradicted yourself, first you say "Chris Foy was an apsolute disgrace" then you say "It wont get rescinded because it was 2 footed, he had his studs up and if Nani hadnt of jumped he would of broken his leg(s) so you wont get it appealed because it was dangerous"
I can't be happy about this win. Foy was an absolute dunce. The red card could've been a yellow (although he did lunge with 2 feet), Jones probably should have been called for a handball in our box and United should have had a 2nd PK when Kolarov took down Valencia in the box. I have to commend City for playing really well in the 2nd half and were very unlucky not to force a replay. I'm glad Rooney was on the scoresheet but he was invisible in the 2nd half. Scholes return was marred by a really poor performance. I'm glad we got the result but if it were full strength the whole match, I'm not confident that we would come out the victors. I really hope we pick up our game in the next coming weeks because we're not looking like the United team I know.
Edit: @RedDevils: I know it hit his leg before his hand but like the commentator's said, I've seen it called before.
Watch again If you really think Jones was hand ball, it hit his leg then onto his hand there no way he can get his hand away unless he chop it off, anyway FOY is a shit ref, we could got another Penalty the foul Kolarov on Valencia, btw the red was well deserved red, as the rules state that a two footed "studs up " tackle both foot off the ground is considered malicious and any player who results in such should be awarded a red card and Kompany should know this but he doesn't give a damn, even Manicini agree with the decision
P.s. IF Nani didn't jump he would be having a broken leg atm
Btw we were shit in the 2nd half, very sloppy, very careless, and very predictable with the passing that let them make too many counter attack with those stupid mistake that almost backfire us
Thats because in reality they can't afford to buy a quality replacement. The owners are taking them for every penny they can right now and won't give them the money for new players. Bringing him back is proof of the pudding.
I don't think so,If Fergie wanted to spend on a top class player and they denied it would have been a huge problem and he wouldn't just let it go.He is the number one man at the club right now you know, they can't even tell him to leave even if Man dropped into middle table.
i would have to agree we dont have the funds to buy big... its odd tho cos all city do is buy many and buy big yet you still find away to complain about how weak your squad is
Looking through comments on here, facebook and twitter the general consensus is united supporters keep talking about City supporters are upset and bitter today after the result. However not met one City fan who isn't proud of the team today. We scored 2 goals with a backup side (no silva/nasri/kompany/toure) and could have levelled it several times. I think its annoying the reds that City fans aren't actually bothered about this result. They may claim we are but in reality we ain't. Still 3 points clear in the league and still on for the treble. Plus I will quote this here "City down to 10men for 80mins and lose 2-3, united down to 10men for 45mins and lose 6-1, that puts the result into perspective" Says it all really doesn't it about who actually has the better side right now in the premier league. Which is another reason I am not worried.
I'm a United fan and I agree. Keep on supporting your club City fans, your team played well today. City beat us 6-1 at home, we beat them 3-2 away. Step it up Manchester United!
Not really. City parked the bus with between 5-8 defenders at all times and counterattacked where as United committed far more men forward in the OT game. Not a fair comparison really
City have no need to be bitter, there second half display was excellent and the red card was debatable. Look at their fans after the game, they were giving it more than the Utd supporters! Great game all round but Utd just edged it, great goal from Rooney and Welbeck. The next league game between the two will be a cracker.
I understand City fans just trying to support their player but I don't understand how anybody can say a red card for a two-footed tackle is debateable.
Haha two footed tackle, it was a great tackle and he won the ball. Nanis reaction to it which was to turn right around and try win the ball back is testement to that. If he thought it was a bad tackle he would have been rolling around on the ground like a fairy.
The definition of a two footed tackle is to be sliding with two feet towards the ball, unlike a sliding tackle where one foot is tucked away. That was a two-footed tackle whether he won the ball with it or not. Dangerous play.
Hell to everything else lol :) Was great to see the wee ginger Scholes back on the field. That was a slight slip up on the back back from the pass back from the throw in if it.
where not for that well would you have anything to say now. The guys been out for months on retirment may i add.
love to know if required how many City players ity would have they could call on to do the same.
i think we would have won anyway despite the sending off, it was never a red in my opinion but i can see why the ref would a red. if kompany missed the ball and caught nani it could have been a serious injury. man citys goals came from a unstoppable free kick and a mistake made by a 37 yr old coming out of retirement(even though it was great to see him back). where was that rooney on wednesday? he was everywhere today.
ManU fans don't look good right now honestly. They're happy about beating Man City when they were down 10 men and had some great players on the bench? If it was the other way around...Well we all know what happened a few months ago, lol.
^ there's my point. You insult me like the crazy ignorant and blinded fan you are, instead of reading what I said. ManU's win was poor, for several factors. It's a win, and worth celebrating nontheless, but with City having a handful of good players on the bench and one man less there's nothing to brag about to a side of fans of a team that kicked Manu's ass 6 to 1. Now who's the moron?
you are still the moron... if united go on to win the cup you think anyone will give a crap how this game was won? Its remembered for a short time but in the end its getting through that counts.
Considering how we have played previously that first half was fantastic. we let them back into it in the second half yeh, but still saw it out to the finish. how can we not be delighted, when for a change we were not the favourites but still came out on top. Any fool who thinks we shouldn't be happy is a moron... ie. you.
You once again show how much of an ignorant fool you are, I said celebrate nonetheless, meaning be happy, but the win was rather bitter. If Barcelona beat a Real Madrid that had some good midfielders benched I wouldn't be as delighted even though they won. It's pretty simple to understand, but your fanaticism blinds you.
I couldn't remember where I heard this from but City said that they would win with ten men, beside with their billions loosing to an average United side is a laughable, I remember one of the City player said they can win or compete in CL even with their 3rd team, doesn't look like it any more
I dont support either teams, but its ridicilous that people are saying that kompany diserved to get sent off for a clean challange. It was a good game btw.
clean challenge or not, 2 feet is 2 feet and you cant tackle that way. if Nani didn't jump out the way, he could've been caught and been injured and then Kompany would've been red carded anyway.
meh... united should've done better! with ref on their side, i'm curious why its only 2-3. on the other hand, city was awesome last night. too bad they cant make it through champions league.
and oh... if only tevez were there! those misses by kun must not have happened.
Man Utd Goalkeepers..

I absolutely called this result this morning. If I were a betting man I would have put money on it and won.
Every week I seem to be criticizing refs for stupid decisions but Chris Foy takes the cake... Way to ruin the match Mr. Foy
Bye bye Shitty!
Chris Foy was an apsolute disgrace.
