Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs alone in midfield should never happen. Period. The only position it would be safe to play Giggs now days is playing just behind the striker with two midfielders behind him. Problem is that position is occupied by Rooney and Kagawa.
It's seems SAF feels he has an obligation to play Giggs and Sorry to say it's a detriment to the team more often than not.
SAF wanted experience to finish off the game, why didn't he choose Fletcher.
Tbh United look weak whenever Giggs plays these days, it's usually masked by him getting a goal or assist but overall it feels like playing with one less man. Scholes can still dictate play but not for the full 90 and he offers nothing defensively except for getting booked and giving away cheap fouls. IMO the 1st name on the team sheet from cm should be Carrick (cue negs), he rarely gets the crowd off their feet but he is a consistent performer.
Lovely goal from Cleverley! Our midfield looks great with Clevs and Carrick but as soon as that partnership was broken we looked weak.
soon as the subs were made sunderland got back into the game. but the first half performance was like the old united.
United played very well, but sunderland was scared from the start. And were too deep.
Fair result though.
The last 20 odd minutes was made a lot more difficult than it should of been having Giggs and Scholes in central midfield.
