Sergio Ramos says Real Madrid’s third consecutive semi-final exit is a direct result of his side’s failure to perform in the first leg against Borussia Dortmund.
A 2-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday was not enough for los Blancos, who succumbed to a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Dortmund.
Ramos’ 88th-minute goal gave his side a lifeline, but the German outfit held on to book their place in the final in May.
Dortmund would have played differently in the second leg if they had needed to, they did what they needed to to get through to the final without any injuries/suspensions and had a bit of a wobble in the last 10mins.
Just because Madrid won the 2nd leg 2-0 doesn't mean they would have done so had the 1st leg been a different result.
