Goal.com: After the second leg at the Allianz Arena the Arsenal boss labelled the Dutchman "a great player and a very good diver" - a comment the player feels lacked class.
He is a diver, but then so are many so called great players. The definition of contact needs to be changed in football. It has even gotten to the point where commentators are saying "yeah there was contact", at the slightest touch. The game is being ruined by these players. The rules should be changed to stomp it out. Yellow cards should be dished out for going down easy.
Exactly, I hate when they say it's a penalty because there was the slightest touch. It's reaching a point where a player only has to feel the hair on another players leg and he flops over.
UEFA are trying to turn football into zero contact by awarding free kicks and encouraging this sort of behaviour, at least the Premier League is cracking down on it.
While I would say the PL is better in regard to this issue, I don't think it is really cracking down on it. I specifically remember the Chelsea-Liverpool game over Christmas where Oscar and Hazard where doing exactly what Wenger described about Robben: get in front of the man, slow down, fall over. Rinse and repeat. They got away with it every time and still do. Watch Chelseas next game to see what I am talking about. It's a joke. Granted, they are not the only ones who do this, but if you want example then look no further.
Embarrassing dive shouldn't see this in the Champions League.
