good pressuring. thats what they need to do more often. sat back a bit in the second half. but at least there was more tactics than cross to the box and pray something happens.
for me rooney was man of the match. he was beasting all over the place. RVP had a good game as well.
good game to watch. entertaining to watch this comeback.
Nothing is fixed and won't be. Winning such a team should have been the equivalent of Reals first leg with Schalke.
RVP getting overly praised, yeah I love what he did, but he's far from in form, a penalty, a tap in and an inept goalkeeping free kick don't make a man what he was.
As a Utd fan, as happy as I am we are through, I think the win is being exaggerated. We beat a rubbish Greek side, and they actually played really well and should have scored at least one. Hate to think what Bayern/Barca/RM will do to tactically inept Moyes.
I fear that this will only paper over the cracks in an otherwise disastrous season; Moyes has to win the CL to remain manager for me.
Also, what's this talk of 'kick starting' the season?! It's coming the end of the season so a bit late!
So they don't belong in the Champions League knockout stages??
Right. These is the kinds of fans that are glory hunters. United must steamroll everyone and lift every possible trophy before some fans are happy. Winning is a god given right to Man United.
Olympaiokos are rubbish - they've only been in the knockout stages a couple of times so they clearly dont belong there. They only got there because they were in an easy group and still only managed to make it through on head2head.
@xX_Altair_Xx so are City a rubbish team then as they have never got through to the knockout stages? In fact isn't it called the champions league? So by that City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Madrid in fact any team that did not win there domestic league don't deserve to be in the cup.
Olympaiokos drew and beat Benfica in the champions league and also beat United in the 1st round 2 0. Yes Olympaiokos are not in the same bracket as Madrid, Barcelona and B-Munich but no one else is.
The champions league is just like any other cup (FA cup for example) where any team can beat another on the day just like Wigan did to City.
Olympaiokos are champions of there country and are there because they deserved to be. A great team is not made up of individual players its made up of players who know how to play together.
It really is one of the most infuriating things to read when people declare 'team A will destroy team B' I mean do you not watch football? anything can happen, that's why we love it! If it was a simple case of the better teams win every match no one would watch. Of course Utd are weak atm and I do expect them to go out but it's not like they have no chance. People also laughed last year and expected Madrid to destroy Utd, yet they would have gone out were it not for the Nani incident so sit back and see what happens, there's a long way to go yet. As a fan it's your job to be supportive and optimistic rather than say 'Hate to think what Bayern/Barca/RM will do'
People laughed last year - but with Fergie in charge us fans knew Real wouldnt hammer us. You missed the full quote - 'Hate to think what Bayern/Barca/RM will do TO TACTICALLY INEPT MOYES'.
Those last words are the point that i'm making, not that i dont support the team. Moyes has given us no reason that he has the ability to outwit Pep, Ancelotti, Klopp, Mourinho etc.
Again, if it was as simple as the lesser manager will always lose to the better manager no one would watch football anymore.
You're telling me if Man Utd's players were able to read your full comment they'd be inspired by your 'support'? No, they'd be demoralised because you 'Hate to think what Bayern/Barca/RM will do TO TACTICALLY INEPT MOYES'- there used your full quote and my point still stands.
Actually the place to support the players is the stadium. Private forums are places where fans can honestly state what they really think - if there were no such avenues then, to take your reasoning, who would ever discuss their honest feelings about football, players, managers, matches etc? Moyes' tactical ineptness is discussed everyday in newspapers, TV and even the Utd forums.
I think it would be naive to believe that most fans dont fear a hammering by one of those teams PRIVATELY but they will always support the players. The fact that you get 'infuriated' when people say certain things suggests it's lost on you that fans can have private feelings about the club/manager that they clearly dont want to vent in public.
Now you're just arguing against a strawman, I know where the place to support players is and I already stated that I expect Utd to go out, as do most people. But even if I was a fan of Utd I wouldn't 'fear a hammering' it's hardly a forgone conclusion. My point that you can't seem to grasp is, your overwhelming negativity is ridiculous because anything can happen in football.
What a result!
A much better performance from us!
Hopefully we can carry this on!
Ala United!
woops wrong one! ;)
Glory Glory Man United! :D
great result.

Must have been a glitch in the matrix. Will be back to normal next round.
Good game, tense. Pray God we get a Lewa down BVB next.
So win one relatively easy game and everything is back on track? Ok.
Also this just means that Moyes will be there even longer, that's a win for every other football fan in the country.
