It wasn't too shocking for me. Who really rates Liverpool these days? Swansea positively battered Liverpool here at Anfield. Liverpool didn't field a full strength side but after the break when they were getting heavily outplayed they sent on Gerrard and Suarez but it didn't help too much.
i agree that liverpool arent really that good anymore but i still rate them as a good side... i think they will bounce back in the next few seasons... thats if Rodgers doesn't get sacked though... He's a quality manager! :)
I think that the owners will try and back Rodgers as much as possible. However I have this niggly feeling that if Liverpool have not significantly improved by next season he could face the door.
So for example if Liverpool get booted out all the cups earlier on and aren't above 8th in the league by the time spring comes around there will be a lot more disgruntled fans who currently claim to have patience.
The only way this might happen is if someone like Harry Redknapp were still available. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Redknapp is the Liverpool manager this time next year.
Redknapp is lurking and he is refusing countless managerial jobs. The reason for this is simply he knows he is nearer the end of his career, and he only wants a job at a bigger club.
In fact I would have bet that Redknapp would have been the Liverpool manager this summer instead of Rodgers had he been available a few weeks earlier!
It seems Liverpool can't intimidate anyone anymore. Every team knows they can get something against Liverpool either away or home. I'm starting to doubt that Rodgers will be there at the end of the season, if they can't manage some type of good consistent performances.
Yet another shocker!
Glad to see the lower teams advance through the tournament!
