West Ham have sacked manager Gianfranco Zola after less than two years in charge at Upton Park.
The 43-year-old former Chelsea player, who had no previous managerial experience at club level, took over from Alan Curbishley in September 2008.
A statement from West Ham read: "West Ham United confirm that they have terminated the contract of Gianfranco Zola.
"The board of directors would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him well for the future."
Bad mistake.
He was a good manager. He made 100% out of the squad.
He has made a lot of good moments.
I vote Zola as the new Italian coach. Agree?
Zola should have gotten more time, The Hammers are not a great side and I think given time, he could have put his brand on it by getting a couple of new players (after all, the y have to) Buona Fortuna Gianfranco!
I loved Zola as a player. Dont know him as a manager, but the clubs always fire theier managers when they doesnt reach the clubs goals for the season. Sometimes it helps, normally they need to focus on the squad...
