SEASON REVIEW: The final word

That was the season that was: A six-way title race, surprise packages, an all-French Champions League quarter-final and the shock collapse of Bordeaux's Ligue 1 defence. Ligue1.com's David Crossan surveys the detritus of a memorable campaign…

TITLE

Defending champions Bordeaux went into the winter break with what ligue1.com termed "an ominous nine-point lead" over the chasing pack. What followed next was nothing short of remarkable.

Marseille, chasing a first title since 1992, were 11 points adrift of Les Girondins at the start of 2010 but embarked on a fabulous run, crucially winning games in hand where Bordeaux slipped up and surging to the top of a table, which as late as Week 30 saw the top six covered by just three points.

The story is too old to be commented.
