Manchester United are to place 4,000 season tickets on general sale, despite resisting a proposed supporters’ boycott by breaking the 50,000 mark earlier this week.
Although the green and gold campaign launched earlier this year by supporters opposed to the Glazer family, United’s owners, failed in its primary objective to force the Americans to sell up, it became a hugely visible symbol of the fans’ backlash against the Glazers plunging the club into debt to the tune of £716.5m.
