Young seeks regular England spot

Ashley Young has set his sights on becoming an England regular and is confident he could handle the pressure as he looks to bounce back from missing the FIFA World Cup™.

The Aston Villa winger could make a first start at Wembley for his country in Tuesday's UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier against Montenegro. The absence of his former team-mate James Milner through suspension may open the door for Young, who has been in sparkling form this season.

Young was first called into the England squad by Steve McClaren three years ago shortly after making a £9m move from Watford to Villa, and has nine caps. It would delight him if he emulates another former Hornets player and winger, John Barnes, by starring for his country.

The story is too old to be commented.
