Wolfsburg have stepped up their efforts to sign Bayern Munich captain Mark van Bommel, if a report from Bild is to be believed.
According to the report, the 33-year-old Van Bommel has been offered a contract until 2012, but is holding out for a salary increase. However, following the arrival of Luiz Gustavo and emergence of Anatoliy Tymoshchuk at Bayern, he is no longer guaranteed a starting role, and may opt to make a switch before the January transfer window closes.
