Benfica took the initiative in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final against Braga with a 2-1 victory at the Stadio da Luz.
Jardel put the hosts ahead five minutes into the second half with a close-range effort, before Braga equalised just three minutes later with a clever header from captain Vandinho.
The hosts didn’t have long to wait for their lead to be restored, however, as Oscar Cardozo blasted a stunning free kick into the top-right corner in the 69th-minute to secure a valuable first-leg victory for Benfica.
