Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has come to the defence of goalkeeper David De Gea after United's 2-1 victory against West Brom at the Hawthornes.
A late own-goal from Steven Reid which was created by Ashley Young gave the Red Devils victory, which spared De Gea's blushes after the United goalkeeper had earlier inexplicably dived over Shane Long's shot to gift the Baggies an equaliser to Wayne Rooney's 12th-minute strike.
i would just like to say that the position of goalkeeper has probably always been the hardest to fill not to play as our back four and midfield have always been outstanding,but i honestly think after watching a nailbiteing season as last season was,that we were throughout most of it very poor in that area,putting our back four and keeper under more pressure than normal.i personally think that the best i saw our midfield play was against arsenal in the f a cup,when the dasilva twins played on the left and right flanks and they and our whole team were outstanding but the midfield espesially.we already have injurys to rio. and vid which means a weakend back four and a very young inexperianced keeper,my point is we have no shortage of attacking flair in our midfield but lack a ball winner and playmaker such as snijder,carrick is not up for the job.we have already seen two different displays in the city game and westbrom game yesterday,and i think if yesterdays opponents had been a better equipped side we probably would have struggled for a draw red for life mick
