Woody backs Crouch for England

Stoke defender Jonathan Woodgate is confident his once-again team-mate Peter Crouch will soon be back in the England squad.

Crouch, who arrived at the Britannia Stadium from Tottenham on transfer deadline day, was left out of the most recent England squad by Fabio Capello.

However Woodgate, another summer arrival at Stoke from Spurs, believes Crouch will be back in a Three Lions jersey well before Euro 2012 next summer.

He told The Sentinel: "He's only been left out of one squad, so it's not about what happens to him in the future, but what happens to him now. He'll probably be in the next squad."

Woodgate played down his own role in Crouch's transfer to the Britannia Stadium.

Not good enough. Rooney, Carroll, Sturridge, Bent are way ahead of him. I would be surprised if he started for England again.

England don't need him anymore Carroll is better and also good header of the ball
