Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo believes La Liga is the best league in the world and has an advantage over the Premier League due to superior "personal and technical skills".
The Premier League is still the best football/soccer league in the world. La Liga is just Barcelona vs. Real Madrid. It has potential to become the world's best in the near future, but as of now the Premier League is where it's at.
La liga has only the one game everyone wants to see, el clasico. But the passion and rivalries in the premier leage extend beyond just that single game. The big ones like Man Utd v Liverpool, Arsenal v Spurs, Liverpool v Everton, Man utd v Man city etc etc all cause a stir and spark debate. I love a big derby with major history and it seems the best ones i watch are in England
All the talk in spain is only about these two clubs and it comes across as one dimensional and boring something all the banter and rivalries in the premier league could never be
Actually La Liga doesn't even have the potential to become the best in the near future.real & barca are playing in their own league now. And i'm sure when Cristiano was in MAN UTD he also said the Premier league is the best. It's all media talk.
If you were to put both Real Madrid and Barcelona in the Premier League, it would be all the same : they would both fight for the title every year. The rest would be no match for them. Same statement with any league in the world. Period
Meh I'm sure someone would be able to take them on...city perhaps? Anyway the 80s LFC team could beat both of them and so could the Celtic team of 67...both when football wasn't just about money.
The reasons Barcelona and Madrid dominate La Liga is mostly to do with money and their status in Spain. They are both very rich and very influential to the detriment of all the other clubs- Madrid is linked to the Spanish monarchy (look at what sits atop the badge), and Barcelona carries the Catalan people's support, virtually as an identity and another platform for their ideals. So many more back these clubs from either side of an old fashioned political standpoint.
They both sell their television rights independently, which is why they have more revenue than any other club and that also means that the smaller clubs have no hope of competing financially. It'll be the ruin of La Liga.
The Premier league rights are a collective deal, everybody gets the same money from the rights sales. Whether you are Man Utd, Liverpool or Wolves and Swansea.
If the top clubs sold their own rights as in La Liga, imagine how much more of a gap would be felt, imagine how much more money Manchester United could raise. Their revenue would most likely outstrip Barcelona's and Real Madrid's.
If you take their current ability to the premier league, they would no doubt be powerful clubs. However minus their TV deals and special levels of support, they would not dominate easily as some might imagine.
Obviously the EPL is more competitive, now in terms of "better" what do any of you mean?? In terms of entertainment, some might argue that El Classico overshadows any EPL game rivalry, (which it does). In terms of the quality of teams, obviously La liga holds two top teams in the world, and their lineups easily destroy that of any other league.
Seems like this argument appears every other month.

Where's everybody go ??
Yes the TV revenues aren't shared equally in Spain, and it's the same thing in France for instance (the higher in the table, the more money you get). Not sure about Italy and Germany. But this was all contested in the early hours of the season in La Liga, I believe ?
But it's also very important to notice that the revenues of these 2 clubs are also mainly brought by merchandising, advertisment etc. They're amongst the most popular clubs on the planet. I don't think it would make such a huge difference if they had the same TV revenues as the other clubs. How much money are we talking here ?
Nearly half of Barcelona's total revenue is TV @ 145m pounds a year. Man Utd's is a third @ 105m. Just in case you doubted how much of a difference TV revenue is.
The next richest Spanish club is Atletico Madrid- their TV revenue is only one third that of Barcelona's, and their total revenue well under one third that of Barcelona and Real Madrid's. In short Barcelona and Madrid's financial dominance in Spain is absolutely emphatic. Manchester United make more than Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool etc but nothing like twice as much let alone more than 3 times as much to their next closest like the Spanish clubs.
Yeah but 145M when their total revenue is 398M it's only a part of it. Barcelona earn lots of money because they're so popular, and people watch their games because they're the best team in the world. Let us see Atletico (as much as I like this team) get that many people struggle to get shirts, see games, etc.
But yes, TV does make a difference for those smaller clubs who need the money to keep their players (who're all gone to EPL, making it the good league it is btw)
Their TV revenue is 145m pounds (178m euros). Their total revenue is 325m pounds (398m euros). Just under half of barcelona's total revenue is Tv rights. What vulcanproject said was accurate. Half is a lot.....if you take it away and give them what every other club gets in the english premier league they would maybe make as much as Man Utd total, but no more as they do now.
I don't think you have read the reports very well camehlheon because you mistook pounds for euros and made it seem as though tv revenue wasn't as important as it obviously is to Barcelona.
Manchester United would make more money than both of them with their own Tv deal i reckon, and if Old trafford was a little bit bigger at least the size of the Bernabeu they would rake in even more at the gate.
It is a bit sad to see that there is no hope for other clubs in spain against the financial might of the two biggest.

You see the better football in La Liga but the Premier League is way more competitive.
I went to see Serie A at San Siro. AC Milan v cesta( I think). It was dull.
I'm sure La Liga is way better than Serie A. However, EPL is way better than La Liga. As Guigsy above said, EPL is more competitive.
Not sure why Ronaldo is forgetting that?
I would rather watch a game like Wolves vs Bolton than Barcelona vs ???? because once you have seen Barca beat a team 6-0 once it gets boring.
