ballon d'or 2013 imo should go to Bastian Schweinsteiger with muller a close second. Bastian Schweinsteiger dominated a midfield so well i think the last time i seen a midfield player do so great was iniesta and sneijder in 2010. muller was superb as well, but between the two i think bastian edges out.

messi will no doubt be there with the year he had. if he wins it, i would say he deserved it to an extent the only problem being that the rest of the world of football will feel like slap in the face. it doesnt matter how many goals you score or trophies you win, messi will always be top. which is kinda unfair if you think about it.

ronaldo, i dont see him winning it this time. he did have a great year individually but nothing like last year. considering he walked away empty handed last year even though he did deserved it, i just dont see him as a winner now.

Ribery i have mixed feelings. yeah he won the treble but i dont think he was bayerns best player. i think Schweinsteiger was. Ribery did score important goals but muller and Schweinsteiger were working just as hard trying to create those chances so yeah. but the media are hyping him lately so i wont be shocked if he wins.

other players like RVP, Cavani, Ozil, Bale, Suarez all had outstanding seasons but they just lacking that something extra which makes a good season a great season if you know what i mean. but i think this trophy has lost some of its prestige lately so i wont really take it with much weight that the player who does win it really was the best.

I personally wouldn't give it to Messi, he got injured and although he did do a lot for barca he only ended up prolonging their brutal fall(loss to Bayern) and most likely worsening his injury. To me it is between Ribery and Muller, especially since they have the treble.

Never understand why people take trophies to consideration when looking for the best individual.. They do have an impact but trophies are won by team effort not only by individual play.

It's very hard for me to put anyone on top of messi/ronaldo. They score the most amount of goals in a season and have the biggest influence to their teams overall. Messi did very well even for Argentina this time around.

Nes_Daze4020d ago

@yezz, regardless you have to weigh in the impact they had on their team. I think Messi and Ronaldo are the best, by far, but as far as success this year I wouldn't give it to eiher.

Bastian Schweinsteiger with muller a close second. Troll

KingPin4020d ago

troll? how? please elaborate...

i been supporting bayern from the 90s not jumped on the bandwagon since they beat barca last year.
to me he was all round a better player over muller. im not saying muller was complete shite, i just think bastian was better IMO. dont mistake me, if i could build a dream team, they would both be in it.

you welcome to have your own opinions.

Insulting to see Bale on that list!

Jonnyquest3214020d ago

Imo Lahm should win it.
@Koyes how is it insulting to see Bale on the list? insulting to who? he had a great season last year and carried his team (most goals from outside the box in Europes top 5 leagues)

asmith23064020d ago

Yup, and two goals and two assists last night for Madrid. So insulting!!

Modi19844020d ago

between Messi and Ribery .. Ronaldo is far form the Ballon d'Or

As long as Ronaldo maintains that goal to game ratio he has, he should always be in the top three contenders by default. It's insane how many goals he scores. It's not as if he is playing in a mickey mouse league.
