FSG were keen on finding the right person and they knew very well about Rafa but my guess was that they did not like that Rafa tends to publicly show his frustration against the owners when he was not rightfully given funds (He did this at LFC and Inter).
Another twist on things, the main person advising FSG and the board to appoint Brendan Rodgers was Michael Laudrup, who is now the manager at Swansea.. Weirdness
So am I to be honest, but I guess they thought he wouldn't be able to get Liverpool playing the attractive football they're trying to employ now.
