Official: Liverpool Confirm Rafael Benitez To Leave Club By Mutual Consent

Liverpool have officially announced this afternoon that manager Rafael Benitez is to leave the club by mutual consent.

The Anfield board moved to get rid of the Spaniard after a disappointing campaign saw them finish in seventh place and dumped out of the Champions League in the group phase. Although Benitez only signed a five-year contract last summer with a £16 million severance clause, the two parties are rumoured to have agreed a compensation fee of £3 million.

The story is too old to be commented.

This is not the way to go for Liverpool. They can`t get a better manager than Rafael Benitez. They need new owners, new stadion and 3 new players of class who can bring the club up again where they belongs.

Liverpool is free fallin, its gonna be hard to fing a good manager without knowing the future owners for the club. I think the stars, Gerrard and Torres, will follow him out. That means goog by to Liverpool. Championship next year?
