Could easily have been more. I think it's been well established by now that playing Mata and 2 strikers is akin to suicide but Moyes just sits there with that stupid gormless grin on his face. RVP may be the one to go as he doesn't really seem too bothered. Love watching Liverpool play, if they keep their players they will light up the champions league next year!
The difference is that Man Utd are having one dip season, they'd had these under Ferguson too (not as bad this this admittedly) they've been knocked out by Basel finished 3rd in the league etc etc. Man Utd have the finances to compete again, Milan unfortunately do not. It's a sad day when Taraabt is one of their best performers, a player who was relegated with Qpr.
The difference is Torres was amazing and was ruined by injury, Giroud is just crap. I seriously believe if they had a top level striker they would actually win something
They still exist but yeah seem to be on their last legs, Vidic, Terry are all close to retirement. Sad, as much as I like ball playing centre backs I love a player who puts his body on the line. Barca were lucky to have Puyol, great player.
I think England will get through, weirdly confident about our chances for once!
Regarding this debate. There is one main reason why our top teams are starting to suffer in terms of quality compared to other leagues and that is because we have too many top teams now with money to compete (Man Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, hell even Southampton, Sunderland, Stoke spend lots)whereas Bayern can pretty much buy any player from the German league with no resistance ...
Agree on Valencia, completely disagree about Januzaj- while overhyped (which young player isn't these days) he definitely is good enough for United. Don't forget how he carried you when you were at rock bottom.
@Neoragex, it's not totally inconceivable. Obviously Kroos' first choice is to remain at Bayern but if they don't meet his demands he could leave. As for Reus, Dortmund don't have the financial clout to match contracts that other sides could offer, whet...
Agree Ancelotti got it totally wrong but at least he rectified his mistakes and ended up with the draw. Isco and Marcelo definitely changed the game with their direct dribbling.
I wouldn't even blame the ref, what can he do in a match like that? constant diving from just about everyone, hell he got a Costa dive decision right and someone from the Athletico bench tried to run on to the pitch to fight him!
Not just a great win but also a great team to watch, their matches are always fun (for a neutral)
Seeing SAS in the champions league next year will be great, it's been a long time since we've seen two real danger men up front- In the past few years possession football has taken over and gone a bit too far imo, a lot of the matches fizzle out without any real goalmouth action
Agree. Imagine where Arsenal would be if they had actually just paid what was required to get Suarez. Replace Giroud with any one of Rooney, RVP, Aguero, Suarez, Sturridge and honestly I think Arsenal win the league. This year was their best chance with transition in so many top teams yet unfortunately they still decided to save pennies
He's not as bad as people say but he's also nowhere near as good to play for England and Manchester United, at least not as a regular
He's not 100% to blame obviously but no one told him to change the entire back room staff, he inherited the champions and they gained Fletcher back from injury, Fellaini and Zaha! Simply put if someone like Mourinho was in charge this team would be challenging for the title. Ultimately a team, a club as big as Utd should never have appointed someone like Moyes.
A pertinent point from a recent Tim Howard interview
Q: What is the main difference between Martinez and Moyes? ...
Haha true, but then honestly every club has fans that chat absolute poo not just Man Utd fans, the worst ones I know tend to be Spurs fans for whatever bizarre reason. I'm kinda lucky in that my circle of friends and family are level headed (well at least for glory hunters) and they never really boasted or gloated much so I guess I feel for them a little but Moyes' face is hilarious tbf.
I knew from the start that putting Moyes in charge was a huge mistake but I didn't count on him being this bad. He has no tactics, vision or philosophy, it seems he thinks he has good players and therefore they should win. Long balls, pathetic to watch tbh. Great goals though from Olympiakos, apparently haven't lost at home for 5 years (dunno if that's true or not haven't bothered to check it up)
It's getting to the stage where I feel sorry for Man Utd fa...
Simply put he isn't worth that much, he is a great player though and it seems that people are more likely to call him crap than say someone like Benzema, Ibra, Cavani, Balloteli etc even though Rooney has comparable and even favourable stats for around 8 years now to them all while even playing out of position sometimes. Tbh they have to give him what he wants because if he ended up at Chelsea it would be curtains for Utd.
Arsenal got what they deserved simply because they didn't take their chances, for around 30 minutes they were all over Bayern but didn't score and missed a penalty. If you don't score when you are on top, you wont score once the other team takes over and you definitely wont if you have a man sent off. Imo definite red, forget the last man/clear goal bullshit he damn could have broke Robben's leg as it was the standing leg he took out. Having said all this it really surprised m...
Really? Not a Barca or City fan but it seemed clear to me that with Aguero City most likely would have won this match. Hell they created more chances against Barca than they did against Chelsea. Barca played decent, but compared to their own high standards this was anything but a vintage performance. Hardly 'showing English teams how its done' at all.
Just take both views into consideration, during Pele's time defences were undoubtedly weaker and fitness levels were poor and there were no nutritionists etc but at the same time defenders could hack you down, the pitches were horrendous as was the ball. Now you can say Messi Ronaldo have all the fitness and help they need but then so do the defenders of this era so it balances out. My opinion is that Ronaldo and Messi are better than previous generations simply because we are getting hea...
I'm sorry man but the only player better than Mata at Chelsea is Hazard. Mourinho ruined Mata and then people compared him with Oscar, Willian et al. Mata last year was a beast, will be interesting to see how he does for Utd, personally I'm backing him to outperform Oscar. (Not to say Oscar isn't a great player, he is and he's still very young so could surpass Mata- I just don't think he's a better player than Mata yet. Obviously on current form he is but I put that do...
That would be from this season only, Suarez was great last year but nowhere near the level he's at now- He's outscoring even Ronaldo, assisting more and doesn't even take penalties.
It really is one of the most infuriating things to read when people declare 'team A will destroy team B' I mean do you not watch football? anything can happen, that's why we love it! If it was a simple case of the better teams win every match no one would watch. Of course Utd are weak atm and I do expect them to go out but it's not like they have no chance.
People also laughed last year and expected Madrid to destroy Utd, yet they would have gone out were it not for th...
